Exoplanets are in view!

From BBC news

The above link talks about 3 exoplanets coming in view for the first time.. The picture above is the first peek. Wow, cool, right? In the captions of that picture (see the above link at BBC for yourself) it says they're blocking the light from the star so that we can see the exoplanet.

But... notice what they're blocking the star with...

A Fucking Klingon Battle Cruiser!!!!!

No wait... OMG can it be so???

RUN, ITS THE EYE OF SAURON!

Either way.. we're soooo doomed.

Put on your tinfoil hats, boys and girls.. It's your only hope.

Glad you're here :)

Nov 3

Glad you're here :)

(cellphone)

Today was a good day.

Pretty good day at work... work is still stupid-busy and lots of unnecessary stress- too many unresolved challenges.. But nevertheless it was still a good day at work. My focus was sharp, I got lots of lingering stuff done.

Today also marked my big return to the Martial Arts... and my 8 year old son's first foray! He's been asking about it for about a year now.. he's been really interested in it for a long time.

As some of you guys might already know- I'm a life long martial artist, and I have had the great fortune to study with some really great people in various martial arts. And then I moved to rural Missouri.... The country is not exactly hopping with a selection of martial arts... most of them I would call "McDojos" schools that promise big benefits and deliver none, but still charge you big bucks. Out of desperation I did indeed join one and attended classes 3x a week for about a year.. I hated it, but at least it was SOMETHING. And anything was better than sitting on my butt in front of the computer all the time.

I'm not the sort that can go to the gym and self-motivate to workout, or go out and run... No.. I need goals. And the goal of not getting my ass kicked in a match is a noble one, indeed.. :-D For the record, I do NOT like fighting nor going in a match to beat up people... No.. I like to go in and challenge myself and see that >I< don't get beat up... lol In fact, I tend to laugh constantly when I'm getting beat- cause that means, I'm impressed, and so glad there's more I get to learn! if that makes sense.. lol

Anyway. Brad Farley, the founder of Paths Martial Arts- got tired of the big city and moved... just half a block from my office about 8 years ago. He was very very very experienced in many forms of the martial arts, his love was training mixed martial artists- and preparing them for bouts similar to Ultimate Fighting Champions. On that eventful day I visited his Dojo.. I never looked back at the McDojo I was attending and became an instant student.

I love the hard physical work, and the belly-laughs we all share.. a group of dedicated martial artists focused on bettering themselves in their art & helping others is a family, indeed... It didn't matter that I was Deaf and didn't always understand what they were saying to me... We could always communicate via physical means.. it's a living art.

ANYWAY.. as some of you also know, that instructor I had, Brad.. he was very sick.. he could not maintain his school.. and had no backup instructor trained enough to help him run the school.. so things kind of faded away about 3 years ago.. Then last month he passed away after a long painful illness. That left me as somewhat a Ronin.. a Samurai with no master. Not that I NEED a master, but... i do need a home to go to, to train, though- I need a family.

The current dojo Ian and i just joined- Rob Baker Karate Academy-- I'm already VERY familiar with their students... With Mr. Bakers blessing (which I thought awesome- a lot of instructors are very selfish and possessive of their students) , their students would often come to my Dojo and fill in their ground Jujitsu & grappling game among other things that Rob Baker didn't teach regularly.

The young lady- about maybe 16 wrote me that note and shyly handed it to me after my very first lesson today... As a white belt (again) no less.. hahahaha! Anyway.. I was very very touched.

I remember her from years ago.. she must have been 9 years old the last time I saw her. .and I used to beat up her brother and sisters in kickboxing.. err.. I mean!! I used to spar with them every week at my old school.. (and get beat up myself now and then! lol)

And her oldest sister.. we worked together in kick boxing-- she was a Baker Black Belt with the most beautiful effortless head kicks I have ever had the pleasure to experience firsthand... and... she met an untimely death at a young age.. only in first year of college.

Anyway, her father who came in tonight bringing two of his other kids were very surprised to see me and welcomed me with open arms...

That was very nice, I was very touched.

It is really like a family.

I'm so glad to be back. My beer belly is scared for its life, though.
